Leading a great organization requires more than hiring top talent. It requires giving them a great “system” to work with – including policy, strategy, organizational design, product design, process design, metrics and incentives. Like Deming said, “Put good people in a bad system, the bad system wins – no contest.” Great leaders put good people in a great system… and then get out of their way!
